Disha Special School and Autism Center is one of the Centres of Excellence for Autism and developmental disabilities in the country. The Centre provides all the required therapies by a highly committed team of qualified, trained and certified professionals under one roof. Disha has created its own benchmark by adopting evidence – based practices, World-class methodologies and State of the Art technology for each therapy. Disha follows a highly structured individualized education and therapy program based on each child’s developmental needs and strengths. Customized Apps developed by a subsidiary of USA based company for various learning skills are extensively used. These Apps have proved to be a great boon for speedy learning of the children. Disha School is one of the first Autism Centres in the country who adopted the latest US curriculum (Unique Learning System) and for its implementation all the professionals of Disha are trained by an Expert Trainer from the USA. Disha is using Speech Generating (AAC) Devices generously donated by Mr. David Goldberg, USA kind courtesy Ms. Ambika Bhattacharya for our children who are non-verbal or speak a few words. These devices have proved to be of great benefit for such children.
Disha aims at mainstreaming as many children to the normal Schools as possible and empower the rest to become independent by teaching them skills which can make them employable. More than 75% of Disha’s beneficiaries come from Below the Poverty Line families, who receive all the services including medical intervention free of charge. Utmost love & care by the teachers and ensuring all desirable norms of transparency, accountability and good governance makes Disha an NGO with a difference.
